If you love french macaroons, you will adore this place in downtown LA.

I've only been here for dinner, but I've heard that their brunch is wonderful! Ofcourse that's on my bucket list to try one of these days and I'll report back :)

When you step in, the first thing you see are the french macaroons and fruit tarts. please start salivating. Then you see the chefs making appetizers while you put your name down for a table. There is literally nothing around it. However, I talked to one of the original Kogi franchise workers and got the dirty scoop. Chego was originally a warehouse to hold all of the food for the taco trucks. It was where they concepted new items on the Alibi Room menu. One day, they decided to turn it into a restaurant and Chego was born.

Things to Order:

3pm Meatballs

Pork Belly Rice Bowl - add tofu

I know I know..doesn't look like much but it's pretty delish and the best items on the menu. If you're unable to get a reservation, fear not. You can put your name down for a table at the Mozza Bar, which in my opinion is the best seat in the house. It's a huge square area in the middle of the restaurant where you can order from the same menu as everyone else. But, you're able to watch the chefs make their specialty mozzarella appetizers. It's definitely a fun time!

Things to order:

Anything from the Mozzarella appetizer menu...literally

Tagliatelle w/Oxtail Ragu

Maltagliati w/Wild Boar Ragu

Egg Raviolo

The next time I go, I'm definitely getting the Pasta Tasting Menu. You get to taste 9 of their best pastas for a relatively reasonable price.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1391954832975586513.post-91191673136374794392010-08-23T14:54:00.000-07:002012-04-11T23:01:19.666-07:00Bru's Wiffle A Waffle JointBru's Wiffle A Waffle Joint

I have never been a huge waffle fan. Albeit somewhat Americanized...it's still a great restaurant to try.

They are most famous for their garlic noodles. However, I love their garlic crab. I'm Asian, so I'm used to having to use my hands and crack crabs open. But at Crustacean, you can either select to get it whole (so you can crack it), Somewhat Cracked, or no shells. Definitely blew my mind the first time I read the menu.

It's a good place to try..but wouldn't go more than once or twice. I think you can get a better value elsewhere (aka not in Hollywood!)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1391954832975586513.post-47265437517915705922010-04-29T22:24:00.001-07:002012-04-11T22:31:30.485-07:00CUT
CUT
9500 Wilshire Blvd
Beverly Hills, CA90212

This famous steak restaurant is tucked within the Beverly Wilshire hotel. Not only is CUT very popular amongst celebrities, but so is the hotel. President Obama always stays here when he comes to LA for various events.

I've been here 2-3 times already and have enjoyed it every time. Its main competitor has to be Mastros - another fantastic steakhouse that I'll talk about another time.

The best part of CUT is the appetizers. They have so many upscale appetizer options that we had to order almost every single one. You definitely cannot go wrong. When you're ready to select a steak, they bring out all the different cuts for you to choose. The steak prices range from ~$50 - $100+. Crazy huh?

Everything is delicious though so enjoy!

Parking situation: Finding the entrance to the hotel is actually more difficult than you could think. A lot of the foodies that come are japanese as well so that just further confirms how legit this place is.

This restaurant is essentially a "Japanese Tapas" place. You can pick and choose small dishes to get a taste of Japan.

Top items include:

Chicken Wings

Hanpen Cheese

Tofu Salad

Scallop and Mushroom

Sea Bass Wasabi

Soft Shell Crab

Kimchi fried rice with Sausage

Parking situation: There's an incredibly tiny parking lot behind the restaurant (Tandem parking). This location is a big tourist spot and one of the most famous restaurants in that area. There's actually 3 different floors to this restaurant.

1st floor (ground floor) - You can order steamed buns and dumplings to-go. There's almost always a really long line because it costs the cheapest

2nd floor - You can sit down and take a break from walking through the Temple precinct. They have a couple more options and is a little bit more costly than the ground floor

3rd floor - This floor has 2 restaurants - one on the right and one on the left. The one on the right costs the most out of all them, but it also naturally, has the most selection. This is where we decided to eat.
<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; It's almost everywhere and is very refreshing after a long hot day of shopping. Almost everything they have has mango or some type of fruit in it. You can order to-go or sit down and enjoy their dessert.

Although I think the desserts are DELICIOUS and perfect, they are a little pricey. Regardless, I am willing to fork over the money to have multiple drinks a day from this place. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Stewed Bird's Nest with Harsmar in Coconut
My mom always orders this dessert. It's a warm coconut filled with 'bird's nest and harsmar'. It's one of the healthier things on the menu.
