There are a lot of different locations of this taiwanese soup dumpling restaurant - including one in Chinatown (Arcadia) Los Angeles. I think out of all the different types of soup dumplings there are out there, these are the best. Shanghai also has their type of soup dumplings but I still like these Taiwanese ones the best.
Din Tai Fung does a great job. The skin is very thin, yet doesn't break when you pick the dumpling up. That's how you know it's done very well. There's also plenty of soup inside the dumpling as well as meat. Be sure to put plenty of vinegar and ginger on your dumpling!
The only thing I wish Din Tai Fung would do is make the dumplings bigger...but I guess the smaller size makes it special.
